The University subscribes to the iThenticate plagiarism-detection system, which can be used to screen original material for sentences with enough similarity to raise concerns over plagiarism. Rules about quoting and citing previous work apply equally to one’s own writing, and it is possible to plagiarize ones own published work (“recycling fraud”). This tool can be used prior to submission of grants or manuscripts to flag sections that may come to the attention of reviewers.
iThenticate's site has training materials and documentation.
